You Asked, We Answered!

How can I get emergency orthodontic care?

The first thing you should do is call the practice and inform a staff member about your situation. If it is a life-threatening issue, call 911 immediately. Otherwise, it’s best to call your orthodontist’s office instead of going to a local emergency room or quick care clinic. Many orthodontists offer same-day emergency care – something you can expect to find at Simply Orthodontics in Hopkinton.

We will work quickly to schedule an appointment and administer pain-relieving care. We’ll also develop a plan to address the problem area so that your smile can get back on track.

How do I find the best place to get orthodontic work done?

When searching for the best orthodontic practice, there are a few questions you should ask yourself:

  • Is it necessary that the office be located close to home?
  • Do you want an orthodontist who is in-network with your dental insurance and offers additional payment options to help lower out-of-pocket costs?
  • Is it necessary for the practice to treat children, teens and adults?
  • Does the orthodontist use updated technologies and methods or more traditional solutions?
  • Are you fine with traditional braces or would you prefer an orthodontist who offers innovative options, such as Invisalign?

Once you have a list of criteria to follow, you can narrow your search when looking for an orthodontist in Hopkinton. At Simply Orthodontics, we treat patients of all ages and offer a wide range of appliances, including clear/ceramic braces, self-ligating braces, traditional braces, Invisalign clear aligners and more. We are also in-network with countless insurance providers and plans.

What do you do if you can’t afford an orthodontist?

Do not assume that you cannot afford orthodontic treatment just because you do not have dental insurance or your plan doesn’t include coverage for braces. Taking care of your smile and pursuing essential care to realign your teeth and/or bite is necessary, and many orthodontists offer alternative payment options to keep expenses low.

Simply Orthodontics is pleased to work with CareCredit Financing. This third-party company makes it easy to enroll in one of its available plans and avoid paying the full price upfront. Instead, you choose from one of their low- or no-interest payment plans and begin making monthly installments until the entire bill is paid off. There are no surprise fees or prepayment penalties so that you can stress less about budgeting for your care.

What level of education is required to be an orthodontist?

All orthodontists are general dentists, as they must complete 3 years of dental school and earn a DDS or DMD. During this time, aspiring dentists receive hands-on experience and classroom instruction before graduation. At that time, they can choose whether to specialize in a specific field, including orthodontics.

If this is the preferred path, an aspiring orthodontist will enroll in an orthodontics residency program, which typically lasts 2 to 3 years.

When you think about how long it takes to become an orthodontist, the average timeframe is 10-11 years after graduating from high school.
