What level of education is required to be an orthodontist?
The journey to becoming an orthodontist begins with earning an undergraduate degree, usually in a major that’s heavy in math and science. Then, they must obtain their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree from one of 67 accredited dental schools in the U.S. Although they have completed roughly seven years of higher education at this point, their training isn’t over. Dr. Saunders, for example, earned his Certificate in Orthodontics from Tufts University. Plus, he continues to hone his skills through active memberships with professional organizations like the American Association of Orthodontists.
How do I get emergency orthodontic care?
Is one of your brackets loose? Did you accidentally lose one of your aligners? Does one of your teeth feel loose? Whatever the case may be, we recommend calling our Grafton dental office right away. Over the phone, a member of our team will ask you a few questions to assess the urgency of the situation and schedule an appointment at our office accordingly. They will also share helpful tips on how to handle your orthodontic emergency in the meantime.
What do you do if you can't afford an orthodontist?
If you have any questions or concerns about the cost of your orthodontic care, the best thing to do is to schedule an appointment at our office. That way, we can learn about your unique dental needs, determine which type of braces is ideal for you, and provide you with an estimate of the price. We can also discuss the different financial solutions that can help make the cost more affordable, like our Preferred Plan! Signing up comes with several benefits, including five years of retainer checks and a post-treatment take-home whitening kit for patients who are 16 years of age or older.
How can I make a same-day appointment with an orthodontist?
If you want to schedule a same-day appointment, we recommend giving us a call. This will ensure that a helpful member of our team can quickly learn about the reason for your visit, take a look at our schedule, and determine what our soonest availability is. Of course, you can also reach out to us via the contact form on our website. Although the response won’t be as instantaneous, we do our best to get back to our patients quickly.
Am I too old for braces?
Sometimes, patients hesitate to schedule an appointment with us because of their age. However, you’re never “too old” to have a healthy, straight, and beautiful smile. So, whether you’re in your 30s or your 60s, you should get in touch with us to book a consultation! Once we have an in-depth understanding of your dental history, needs, and goals, we can determine if you’re a good candidate and, if you are, begin working on your custom treatment plan.
